1464021 Measuring tapes; lids for containers STABILA - MESSGERATE KG GUSTAV ULLRICH 6 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 39105/74 Headings B8M and B8P A case for a measuring tape windable on a drum comprises two circular dish-shaped casing halves 1, 2 having rims 3, 4 which engage one in the other, the rim 4 closely surrounding the rim 3 when the halves 1, 2 are assembled together, the halves 1, 2 being interconnected at the rims by a plurality of spaced bayonet connections 5, 6, there being provided, adjacent to at least one bayonet connection and on the face of the rim 4, a securing projection 9 engaging in mating relationship in a channel 10 on the face of the rim 3. The bayonet connections are formed by radially-inwardly projecting locking lugs 5 on the rim 4 which are introduced into recesses 6a and engaged in channel-like recesses 6 in the rim 3 by relative rotation of the halves 1, 2. A projection 9 is provided on the rim 4 in close proximity to each lug 5 preferably spaced therefrom, in the circumferential direction of the rim, by a distance corresponding to the length of the lug 5 extending in that direction. The length of each channel 10 in the rim 3 exceeds the length of the projection 9 in the same direction by an amount corresponding to the distance through which the lugs 5 move along the recesses 6. The channel 10 may extend continuously around the rim 3. Preferably, the case is also provided with means for preventing the two halves 1, 2 from rotating from the position in which the bayonet connections are engaged. This means may comprise (a) a clamping screw (15), Fig. 8 (not shown), on the rim (4) which is screwable radially inwardly to clamp against or extend into the rim (3) or (b) a leaf spring 12, Fig. 7, mounted in or on the rim 3 and extending obliquely outwards in the direction in which bayonet connections are engaged to abut against a radially-directed face in a notch 13 in the rim 4, an aperture 14 being provided in the rim 4 so that a tool may be inserted to press the spring 12 inwardly during fitting together of the halves 1, 2.
