Abstract

1462562 Polyurethane and polyurea powders BAYER AG 31 Jan 1975 [31 Jan 1974] 4312/75 Heading C3R Powder form polyurethanes and polyureas are prepared by converting a polyisocyanate or an isocyanate prepolymer into small particles in the liquid state, contacting the particles with a gaseous diamine or polyamine until they have been converted into the solid state and then separating the solid particles from the gaseous amine. The amine is preferably diluted with an inert gas. Aliphatic diamines and polyalkylene polyamines are preferred. It is preferred to introduce the isocyanate component into a tubular reactor which contains the amine component at a temperature above the boiling or thaw point of the amine. Other substances may be enclosed in the polymer particles.
