Abstract

1462223 Servosystems MOOG Inc 8 April 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 15511/74 Heading G3P A multi-two-stage electro-hydraulic servovalve apparatus collectively serviceable by a single fluid supply 39 and a single fluid return 40, comprises at least two servovalves 8, 9 each including a first stage hydraulic amplifier 14, or 18, capable of producing a differential pressure responsive to an electrical command signal, and second stage fluidflow control valve 12 or 16, responsive to the differential pressure, each hydraulic amplifier utilizing input operating fluid, and producing output operating fluid, each flow control valve including an actuating port 65, 67, or 91, 93, communicable with a pressure metering port 58 or 85, and a return metering port 60, 61 or 87, 88 determined by the position of a movable valve spool 12 or 16 arranged to be moved by the differential pressure, the operating fluid for the amplifiers 14, 18 being in series and the ports 65, 67 and 91, 93 of the servovalves being operatively associated with separate load actuators 68, 94. In operation, fluid passes from supply port 39 through passages 42, 43, 48, 50, to nozzles 33, 34, through passages 72, 73, 74, 76, 77, to nozzles 36, 37, thence through passages 101, 102 to fluid return 40. Fluid also flows from port 39 through passages 59, 86, to pressure metering ports 58, 85. Depending upon the position of spool 12, 16, these ports can be connected with one of the passages 64, or 66, 90 or 92, so as to actuate pistons 70, 96, the discharge from the latter passing through the other passages 64, or 66, 90 or 92, and return port 60 or 61, 87 or 88 to fluid return port 40. Electric command signals are applied independently to electromagnetic torque motors 13, 17, and the torque produced acts against a torque from spool feedback wires 57, 100, caused by movement of spools 12, 16, the torque difference being used to displace flappers against nozzles 33, 34, 36, 37, so as to cause an unbalance in flow. The nozzleflapper hydraulic amplifiers can be replaced by jet-type or deflector jet-type hydraulic amplifiers.
