Abstract
1461718 Electrophoresis apparatus BIOWARE Inc 10 July 1975 [13 Aug 1974] 29089/75 Heading C7B A cell 10 for immunoelectrophoresis or (electro) immuno-diffusion comprises a tray 12 having bottom 50, sides 24, 26 and ends 28, 30, Fig.4 (not shown), at least one end 28 having a first opening 56, a heat transfer cartridge chamber 18 extending between the sides and bottom of the tray and a dome 44 connected to the sides 24, 26 by troughs 34, 32 to which are secured e.g. by supports 88 oppositely charged electrodes 72, 70 connected via connectors 76, 78 to an electrical source, and a second pair of ends (52) Fig.3 (not shown), 54 attached to the sides, bottom and dome, at least one 54 of which having a second opening 56 in registry with the first for communicating the heat transfer chamber with the atmosphere. A second tray 58, within which is removably positioned a coolant cartridge 60 conforming to the shape of the dome, is slidably positionable within the chamber 18 through the openings. A cover 14 may be removably engageable with the tray 12, both associated with a magnetically actuated switch (74) Fig.6 (not shown), for connecting the electrical source to the electrodes. At least one conductive gel slide specimen 20 is placed on the dome with its ends immersed in the electrolyte in the troughs 32, 34.
