1461569 Separating gases B O C INTERNATIONAL Ltd 26 March 1974 [3 April 1973] 15843/73 Heading B1L The invention relates to a process for the recovery of a desired component from a gas mixture by passing the mixture through a bed which preferentially absorbs the desired component, wherein in a first stage the gas mixture is introduced at one end of the bed and a mixture with a reduced content of the desired component leaves the other end of the bed and in a subsequent stage a gas mixture having a content of the desired component greater than that of the gas mixture introduced during said first stage is evacuated from the said one end as product gas such subsequent stage being conducted at a lower pressure than that of said first stage, at least part of the gas mixture with a reduced content of the desired component being introduced at the said other end during a latter part only of said subsequent stage so as to promote the evacuation of the desired component.
