1461568 4,4,4 - Trichloro -1,2 - epoxybutane OLIN CORP 9 Oct 1975 41502/75 Heading C2C 4,4,4 - Trichloro - 1,2 - epoxybutane is prepared by reacting 2,4,4,4 -tetrachlorobutanol or 2 - bromo - 4,4,4 - trichlorobutanol with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide and/or an alkaline earth metal hydroxide in the presence of an emulsion-inhibiting proportion of an antioxidant selected from alkali metal bisulphites, catechol and 4-(C 1-8 alkyl)- catechols. An inert solvent may be present.
