Abstract

1460851 Antiskid braking systems EATON CORP 24 Jan 1974 [26 Jan 1973] 03412/74 Heading F2F An antiskid braking system for a vehicle having at least first and second spaced apart independently rotatable wheels comprises brake control means responsive to a skid signal for relieving braking pressure on the wheels, means for providing first and second wheel speed signals, a logic circuit for providing a skid signal to the brake control means when the acceleration rate of the faster wheel exceeds a predetermined positive acceleration and means for inhibiting the logic circuit from providing the said signal when the positive acceleration rate of the faster wheel attains a level representative of a second predetermined acceleration greater and more positive than that of said first predetermined acceleration. Sensors WS-1, WS-2 supply alternating signals to circuits SC-1, SC-2 each including a frequency to voltage converter and wheel speed signals are supplied to a summing amplifier SA and a high wheel speed selector HS. An accelerationdeceleration logic circuit A.D. provides a signal representing rate of velocity change to a comparator A.C. where it is compared with a reference signal. If the acceleration is greater than the reference signal a skid signal is provided but if it reaches the upper level of 5g a circuit AI inhibits comparator A.C. from providing a skid signal. If the average wheel speed signal decreases sufficiently fast its magnitude becomes less than the decaying reference signal and a skid signal will be provided but a circuit DFD delays it before application through an OR gate to the valve driver circuit VD, this time delay permitting the faster wheel to be braked for a longer time to have greater braking effect on the vehicle. The valve driver circuit is disabled if there is a low output voltage from the power regulator or if the OR gate provides an output signal greater than one second in the absence of a skid signal from circuit AC. A signal from the gate in excess of six seconds causes a fuse F to blow and loss of valve solenoid continuity or operation of the solenoid in the absence of a skid signal will also cause the fuse to blow, an indicator circuit IC also being provided.
