Abstract

1460657 Pyridine derivatives CASSELLA FARBWERKE MAINKUR AG 9 Dec 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 53107/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] 2 - Methoxy - 3 - cyano - 4 - methyl - 6 - (21- hydroxyethylamino)-pyridine is prepared (Example 1b) by reacting 2,6-dichloro-3-eyano-4- methylpyridine with 2-hydroxyethylamine in ethanol to give 2-chloro-3-cyano-4-methyl-6-(2<SP>1</SP>- hydroxyethylamino)-pyridine, which is isolated and then reacted with sodium in methanol to give the first named compound. 3 - Cyano - 4 - methyl - 6 - (3<SP>1</SP> - methoxypropylamino) - pyridine - 2 - [# - (#<SP>1</SP> - methoxy)- ethoxy] - ethylether is prepared (Example 2b) from 2,6 - dichloro - 3 - cyano - 4 - methylpyridine and 3-methoxypropylamine in ethanol. The crystallized 2-chloro-3-cyano-4-methyl-6-(3<SP>1</SP>- methoxypropylamino)-pyridine is reacted with diethylene glycol monomethyl ether and sodium to give the required product. 2 - Methoxy - 3 - cyano - 4 - methyl - 6 - (3<SP>1</SP>- methoxypropylamino)-pyridine is prepared (Example 3b) from the 2-chloro-3-cyano-4-methyl- 6 - (31 - methoxypropylamino) - pyridine of Example 2b by reaction with sodium methylate solution. 3 - Cyano - 4 - methyl - 6 - (31 - methoxypropylamino) - pyridine - 2 - n - butylthioether was prepared (Example 5b) from the intermediate of Example 2b using n-butylmercaptan in place of the diethylene glycol monomethyl ether.
