Abstract

1460580 Game apparatus W NORTON 16 Jan 1975 [16 Nov 1973] 53214/73 Heading A6H (Also in Division F3] Apparatus for simulating firearm action comprises a target device 2 and a firearm device 1, which may be a hand gun, and has electrical radiation emitting means such as an electric light bulb and an optical system 4 which projects a beam of light from barrel 5 of the gun. The target device 2 has an electrical sensor sensitive to said radiation and may be a resistor 10 which is connected to the electrical radiation emitting means by an electrical lead 16, via control means. The gun is provided with a switch 6, a trigger 7 for actuating the switch 6, via a hammer 9, and a socket 8 for the electrical lead 16. The target 2 has an opening 11 in alignment with the resistor 10, a switch 13, a thyristor 14, a socket 15 for the lead 16, and contains a battery therein. In use the operating of the trigger 7 closes the switch 13 and light emits from the gun. When a hit is made the light passes through the opening 11 of the target 2 and on to the resistor 10, thus causing the thyristor 14 to apply a shunt across the battery 12 and lower the light intensity. Alternatively, the light may be switched off. The thyristor can be re-set, the beam having been removed from the resistor 10, by opening the switch 13. A combat game is played by two persons, each carrying a target device and a gun. A pulse of light radiation may be obtained by the momentary closing of the switch 13, using mechanical means, or the pulse may be produced by electronic means. The electric light bulb may be replaced by a flash unit.
