Abstract

1459363 Indoor games; toys A E GOLDFARB and E BENKOE 3 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 2471/75 Headings A6H and A6S A playpiece 2 in the form of a toy figure 6 is positionable on a base member 30 in at least two different orientations. In a first orientation, a pin (20) Figs. 3B and 9A (not shown) on the playipiece 2 cooperates with a socket (36) Figs. 6 and 9B (not shown) in the base member 30 to complete a circuit including a battery and a lamp 42, whereby the lamp is energised to illuminate the Figure 6. To ensure that this particular orientation is not easily recognisable, the playpiece and the base member are also provided respectively with dummy pins (22) and sockets (34) indistinguishable in appearance from their operational counterparts; thus, in a second orientation the dummy elements cooperate either with each other or with an operational element and the lamp is not energised. In the playing of a game, one player arranges the base member in a desired position and another player places the playpiece upon the base member, success in the game being related to the illumination or non-illumination of the Figure 6. A bell or buzzer may replace the lamp 42, which itself may be mounted on the surface of the playpiece. or even at a remote location. Other cooperating means, e.g. of the magnetically interacting type, may replace the pins and sockets. The playpiece may be of translucent plastics material, or may be made of a phosphorescent material for absorbing light and glowing in the darkness.
