Abstract

1459009 Pumping liquids V J PAGE 1 Aug 1975 [2 Aug 1974] 34198/74 Heading B8T [Also in Division F1] An installation for filling cups with e.g. caramel comprises a heated tank 71 containing the caramel, a plurality of pneumatically operated pumps 72 mounted beneath the tank 71 and each connected thereto by a supply pipe 75, and a conveyer 70 on which the cups are placed to receive measured quantities of caramel delivered through outlet cut off valves 68 of the pumps. A device 69 sensitive to movement of the conveyer supplies signal pulses to a pneumatic circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), which causes operation of the pumps when a line of cups are positioned thereunder. The tank 71 is mounted on rollers 81 which run on tubular tracks 82, track extensions 83 being connectible by pins 84 to the tracks 82 to allow the tank and pumps to be moved laterally of the conveyer for servicing. The pumps are easily dismantled for cleaning by unfastening quick release couplings 29, 73, 74.
