Abstract

1457827 Dewatering aqueous vinyl chloride polymer dispersions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 April 1975 [16 May 1974] 21749/74 Heading C3P In a process for dewatering the slurry obtained from the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride or a mixture thereof with a minor amount of a comonomer, the aqueous slurry after polymerization is degassed of residual vinyl chloride and fed to dewatering apparatus while subjecting the polymer particles to a pressure of no more than 1À5 atmospheres, the product being a wet cake of polymer particles. The method of transfer from the degassing apparatus may be by gravity, very gentle pumping (this is less preferred), conveyer belt, or moving buckets.
