Abstract

1457282 Bowden mechanisms UNITEDCARR Ltd 31 Oct 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 47124/73 Heading F2K A retainer 10 for mounting the nipple 30 on the end of the sleeve 33 of a Bowden cable in position through an aperture in a panel 31 comprises an annular base portion 11 adapted to be sprung into an annular groove 34 of the nipple, and a plurality of arms 12 to 14 and 16 to 18 projecting axially from the base portion, at least one of the arms having a portion which is formed with a curved edge and bent radially outwardly so that the bent portion with its curved edge is inclined to the base portion and extends radially outwardly therefrom. As shown when sprung into position the straight arms 12 to 14 abut the radial wall 34a of the nipple groove 34 while the curved edges of the arms 16 to 18 bite into the rim of the aperture 32 in the panel as the assembly is pressed into the panel as far as the nipple flange 35.
