Abstract

1456932 Ice-cream freezers RAYTHEON CO 15 March 1974 [19 April 1973] 11754/74 Heading F4H A freezer for ice-cream mix comprises a container 10 formed as an open top hollow cylinder 10 in which a double walled metal receptacle 12 open at top and bottom is removably positioned for retaining the mix, and the sealed space 13 in the receptacle walls is partially filled with a eutectic freeze solution 14, preferably KCl, having a freeze temperature above 0‹ F. and lower than that of the mix. A dasher 44 extends into the receptacle from a cover 16 fitting over the open ends of the cylinder and container. The drive of the dasher projects through the cover into the gear-box 28 of a motor assembly 24 mounted on the cover by a mount 30 preferably a bracket having a circumferential flange 34 fitting over projections 22 on the cover and secured thereto by screws. A housing 36 is mounted over the motor assembly 24 and secured to the flange by the same screws. Relative rotational movement between the receptacle and cover is prevented by interlocking means comprising at least one projection 18 on the cover seating in a recess 20 in the upper inner peripheral edge of the receptacle. The freeze solution is cooled prior to use in a refrigerator and may include a small percentage of glycerine to minimize expansion problems.
