Abstract
1455686 Pneumatic conveyers STB ENG Ltd 10 Dec 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 57606/72 Heading B8A [Also in Division F1] A single duct communicates with a bore portion of constant cross-section between an inlet and an outlet of a body, such as to cause a stream of gas to flow from the inlet to the outlet, entraining particulate material from the inlet to deliver it to a discharge member at the outlet. In the figure, inlet 1a may receive one end of a probe tube, the other end of which is placed in a vessel containing particulate material to be conveyed. Compressed air or other gas is introduced at 1d and passed through duct 1c into a portion 1e of the bore in body 1. The bore widens into a frusto-conical portion 1g towards the outlet 1b which may be connected to a tube to convey the gas/material mixture to its required destination e.g. a second vessel at a higher level. Introduction of gas through duct 1c causes subatmospheric pressure at inlet 1a which sucks material into the bore, where the material is entrained in the gas stream.
