Abstract
1455534 Testing adhesion: Pressure gauges: Indicating apparatus CENTRUM TECHNIKI OKRETOWEJ 29 Jan 1975 [2 Feb 1974 8 July 1974] 3828/75 Headings G1J G1L and G1S A coating 8, Fig. 1 on a base 9 has stuck to it an element 7 with a screwed head 6 and the force required to pull the element 7 away from the coating without removing the coating from the base is measured by a Bourdon gauge, Figs. 2 and 3 connected to a liquid or gas supply fed by the tube shown in Fig. 1. In operation, the test apparatus is arranged as shown in Fig. 1 and fluid is compressed into the space between the diaphragm 5 and the plate 1. This compression forces a piston 4 down on to the coating and lifts the element 7 until it breaks away from 8. The force required to do this is registered on the gauge by a magnetized pointer 13 which attracts and drags around the dial a spherical plastics coated permanent magnet 10 housed in a closed oil filled toroidal tube 11 defined between two layers of a plastics e.g. methyl polymethacrylate pane 12. After violent break away of the element 7 the pointer 13 returns and leaves the magnet 10 in its last position. A radial magnetic member 14 is provided to return 10 to zero.
