Abstract
1454688 Releasable fastenings PENNSYLVANIA ENG CORP 12 July 1974 [16 July 1973] 30979/74 Headings E2A and E2B [Also in Division F4] The tuyere carrying bottom of a metallurgical converter is held in place by clamps (13, Fig. 1) each comprising a double link arm 35, Fig. 2 pivoted to a bracket 45 secured to the converter shell, and carrying a roller 36, Fig. 3, a second link arm 40 pivoted between two brackets 55 secured to the converter bottom so as to be coplanar with the bracket 45 and a lug 38 secured to the converter bottom and coplanar with the bracket 45. The roller 36 engages a cam surface 52 formed on the lug 38, and the link 40 passes between the arms of the link 35 and holds it in place by means of a wedge 41. The wedge and slit connection may be replaced by a screw and nut arrangement, Fig. 5.
