Abstract

1453972 Separating solids from liquid A P V CO Ltd 2 Jan 1974 [18 Jan 1973] 2739/73 Heading B1D [Also in Division F4] In an apparatus for cooling sterilized particulate solid material, the solid material together with cooling liquid is introduced through inlet 2 and passed by screw 3 along cylindrical chamber 1 where in zone 4 the liquid is separated from the solid material by passing through apertures or slots in the bottom of zone 4. The solid material is discharged via a depressurizing arrangement comprising valves 6, 7 and the liquid is recycled, the liquid being passed through tank 8, pump 9, valves 10 and 11 and heat exchanger 12 where it is cooled by indirect contact with another liquid.
