Abstract

1453956 Coated particles HARDMAN & HOLDEN Ltd 30 Sept 1974 [28 June 1973] 30792/73 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions A5 and C1] Particles are coated with an oxo-aluminium compound of the general formula, wherein x is 1 or 2 and Y is an acrylate, a carboxylic acid half ester group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, a sulphonate or partially esterified phosphate or phosphite. Preferably particles are dispersed in a solution of the oxo-aluminium compounds. The material of the particles may be BaSO 4 , CaCO 3 , MgCO 3 , Al 2 (SiO 3 ) 3 , MgSiO 3 , precipitated Ca sulphate/ aluminate, aspirin, tetracyclin, penicillin, ampicillin and the Examples disclose coatings on aspirin, p-amino salycilic acid, resorcinol/silica composite,' tribasic lead sulphate, ZnO, MgO, TiO 2 , and ampicillin. The solution coating the TiO 2 may be pigmented or dyed. The coatings used in the Examples are an equimolar mixture of oxo-aluminium stearate and isopropyl stearate (1-3, 5, 8) or oxo-aluminium acyloxide and isopropyl stearate (4, 6, 7).
