Abstract

1453727 Pneumatic tyres PNEUMATIQUES CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER-COLOMBES 9 Nov 1973 [10 Nov 1972] 52257/73 Heading B7C An inflatable annular spreader tube 1 for pressing beads 3 of a tyre 2 against flanges of a wheel rim 5, comprises a radially outer wall 6 reinforced by circumferentially inextensible strips 7, and a flexible radially inner wall 9, the spreader tube being characterized in that, for fitting purposes, it may be compressed in the axial direction with the wall 9 in contact with the wall 6 so that the walls 6, 9 each assume an axially undulating form. The spreader tube may be inflated through a valve (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), and is provided with a valve 11 for inflating the tyre 2. The valve 11 is connected with a rigid tube 12 surrounded by a flexible sleeve 13 joining the walls 6, 9. The strips 7 comprise circumferentially orientated textile or metal filaments and are separated by unreinforced wall sections 8. The wall 9 is formed by a layer of rubberized textile or metal fabric. The spreader tube may be used with a tubed or tubeless tyre.
