1452690 Moulding Clay GOUGH & CO (HANLEY) Ltd 25 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 18343/74 Heading B5A Articles are moulded from clay by sandwiching the clay between two fibres of a material readily conformable to the contours of a mould, placing the so-formed sandwich between portions of a mould and pressing the mould halves together. Suitably, the clay is extruded on to a web 46 of material (such as polyethylene) supported on a conveyer belt 8, the web being folded over the clay by means of rollers 48 and 50 so as to provide both the upper and the lower films. When a non-porous web is used, the films are separated from the moulded clay prior to waste separation and subsequent processing; when a porous web is used, however, the articles may be dried with the film in situ, the film being removed either prior to or during firing.
