Abstract
1452210 Magnesium oxide-boron oxide composition TEIJIN Ltd 12 Aug 1974 [13 Aug 1973 12 Sept 1973] 35478/74 Headings C1J and C1A [Also in Division C3] An electrically insulating powdery material has a volume resistivity (measured in defined manner) of at least 1 Î 10<SP>10</SP> ohms-cm and particles each of which comprises a core of magnesium oxide whose entire surface is surrounded by a sheath comprising a double oxide of magnesium oxide and boron oxide and optionally double oxides of both the magnesium oxide and the boron oxide with one or more of titanium oxide, iron oxide and chromium oxide. It may be made by calcining under conditions such that 80/t + 800 < T < 80/t + 1200 where T is calcining temperature (‹ C.), t is calcining time (hours) and t < 1/12. The powdery material may be dispersed in a resin material (see Division C3) which may in turn contain other fillers in addition, e.g. clay, glass, asbestos, mica, talc or quartz. Sheath compositions referred to in the examples are 3MgOB 2 O 3 ; 3MgO.B 2 O 3 , 2MgO.B 2 O 3 ; BMgO.B 2 O 3 , 2MgO.- B 2 O 3 , TiBO 3 , MgO.TiO 2 ; 3MgO.B 2 O 3 , 2MgO.- B 2 O 3 , MgOFe 2 O 3 , FeBO 3 ; MgO.B 2 O 3 , MgO.- Cr 2 O 3 , CrBO 3 ; and 3MgO.B 2 O 3 , 2MgO.B 2 O 3 , 2MgO.TiO 2 , MgOFe 2 O 3 , TiBO 3 , FeBO 3 .
