Abstract

1452112 Recording data SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 14 Dec 1973 [18 Dec 1972] 58070/73 Heading G I J Apparatus for temporarily recording data, such as the speed, engine revolutions, load and working of a road tanker which has an input unit 15 to which pulses representing the data are supplied from sensors 5-8 and signal generators 9-12, comprises a memory unit constituted by at least one shift register 16 in which the data is temporarily stored, the shift register(s) having a selfcontained current source (22), such as a dry cell, so that the memory unit can be removed from the tanker, by which it is normally powered, to be read by a device (19) for processing by a digital computer (20), Fig. 3 (not shown). As shown, an interrupter 14 is set between the signal generators 9-12 and a signal generator 13, which can be manually set according to data such as destination, and the input unit 15. A shift pulse generator 17 shifts data in the shift register 16, which may incorporate a feedback system, one stop when new input data is received. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 there are six parallel-connected shift registers 16 each adapted to take one character of each six-character data component.
