Abstract

1451739 Hinges H F C IRWIN 27 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973] 8792/74 Heading E2F A hinge comprises a socket 1 having a ball 8 positioned between a closed end 9 of the socket and the end of a stem 4 disposed within the socket, and a resilient seal 12 compressed between the stem and socket to frictionally hold the stem within the socket during preattachment handling and to seal lubricant within the socket. A circlip 10 may be provided to retain the ball 8 against the socket end 9 and the seal 12 may be placed either in a groove 13 in the socket adjacent the open end of the socket or in a groove on the stem 4. An opening 7 is provided in the socket to allow the hinge to be lubricated.
