Abstract

1451541 Compositions containing aluminium salts ELI LILLY & CO 16 Feb 1974 7164/74 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical preparations having antiinflammatory actions contain salts of formula RnAl(OH) 3-n as active ingredient [n is 1 or 2 and R is 2-(mphenoxyphenyl)-propionyloxy]. Suspensions are preferred administration forms and these may be prepared by (a) dissolving a preservative in water and dispersing a viscosity adjuster in the solution obtained, (b) mixing aluminium hydroxide powder with water, heating the mixture to about 65‹C and slowly adding sodium 2-(3-phenoxyphenyl)-propionate to the heated mixture and (c) adding the mixture from (b) to the dispersion from (a) and adding a specific gravity adjuster to the mixture so obtained. Suspensions may also be prepared by slowly adding a solution of, e.g. AlCl 3 .6H 2 O in water to a solution of 2-(3-phenoxyphenyl)propionic acid and Na 2 CO 3 , and thereafter adding a preservative and a viscosity adjuster to the resulting suspension.
