Abstract

1451032 Indoor games L A COOKSON 3 Jan 1975 254/75 Heading A6H An amusement machine for playing Roulette comprises a rotatable wheel 7 having a driving motor 5 and provided with ball-receiving apertures 9 adjacent its periphery 8; a bowl 2 providing an annular track 3 circumscribing the wheel and sloped to cause a ball moving along the track to fall into one of the apertures when the angular velocity of the ball falls below a critical value; a switch (19) Fig. 2 (not shown) associated with each aperture and operable by the entry of the ball, as sensed by a feeler 18 selectively to close a respective signal circuit; means for projecting the ball into a circular path along the track 3 from a projection station, comprising an arm (13) Fig. 4 (not shown) pivotally mounted intermediate its ends having one end engageable with the ball and movable along an arcuate guide (11), the other end being engaged by a rocking lever (14) actuable by an electromagnet (17); and means for retrieving the ball from any one of the apertures and conveying it to the projection station, said means including a ball-return channel 21 leading from a ball-support plate 10 resiliently mounted beneath the wheel 7 and associated with a ball scoop 29 movable into an operative ballretrieving position by actuation of an electromagnet 23. The machine includes a coin-freed mechanism, push-buttons control circuitry and a payout mechanism all of conventional construction. Embodiments with modified ballretrieving means are described with reference to Figs: 5 to 7, 8 and 9, 10 to 12, 13 and 14, and 15 to 17 (not shown). The ball retaining locations on the wheel may be constituted by tapering grooves, recesses, or cups; Figs. 15 to 17, 18 and 19, 20 and 21, (not shown).
