Abstract

1450644 Air filters LUCAS FILTRI SpA 13 Feb 1974 [15 Feb 1973] 06494/74 Heading B1T In a method of making air filter cartridges for I.C. engines, a plastic layer 4a is deposited on the bottom of a first channel formed by three endless bands 6, 8, 8, a pleated paper strip 1 and metal gauze strip 2 are introduced into the first channel so that the bottom edges thereof are embedded in layer 4a and the strips after being inserted, are passed into a second channel (not shown) similar to the first channel where the now bottom edges are embedded in a plastics layer to produce a continuous blank which is cut into desired lengths. Each length is formed into a ring with the metal gauze on the inside of the paper and the abutting ends joined. An outer perforated metal cover may be placed around the paper layer of the ring.
