Abstract

1450393 Self-cancelling direction-indicators LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 26 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 55114/72 Heading G4Q [Also in Division H1] In a self-cancelling direction indicator switch, resistance to movement of the manual actuator is determined by the engagement of resilient plunger 23, Figs. 4, 6 with detachably mounted selected interchangeable contoured surfaces 45-48. In the embodiment spring plunger 23 may engage surfaces 45 having retaining detents 46, 47 at each end of the limit of movement or surface 48 having projections 50, 51 providing a resistance to movement prior to reaching the detented position. The self-cancelling pawls 32, 33 are disposed in a body 31 carrying the contoured surfaces 45, 46, 47, 48 so that the body 31 and pawls 32, 33 can be inserted as a unit into the switch assembly. In a modification Fig. 7 (not shown) the resistance to movement is also determined by the reaction of the spring plunger (123) on the self-cancelling spring biased pawls (132), (133) which have abutments (161-164) to restrict their pivoting motion and provide a resistance to movement prior to the plunger (123) reaching one of the detents (146, 147).
