1450263 Finishing edges of sheet material SKODA OBOROVY PODNIK 31 Jan 1974 [8 Feb 1973] 04645/74 Heading B5K An edge sealing strip 1, made of elastic material, e.g. rubber, and provided with a longitudinal groove 17, is applied and adhered to the edge of a structural member 2 by (a) fastening one end of the strip 1 within or at an end of a helical groove 13 of a mandrel 3, (b) winding the strip, with prestressing, into the groove 13 in such a way that the open part of the groove 17 is directed outwardly from the groove 13, (c) fastening the other end of the strip to the mandrel, (d) mechanically removing e.g. by a brush, a separating powder layer from the groove 17, (c) applying an adhesive into the groove 17, (f) positioning the mandrel 3, after partial drying of the adhesive, so that the edge to be sealed forms a tangent to the helix formed by the strip, (g) releasing one end of the strip and pressing it on to the edge, and (h) rolling the mandrel 3 along the edge to transfer the whole strip, inclusive of its second end, which is also released, on to the edge. As shown, the mandrel 3 is provided with hemispherical handles 4 which can be clamped between a fixed pin 18 and a rotatable member 19 secured to a crank 7. A slide 6 is slidable on a rod 12 and is provided with a hole 11 to guide the strip during its winding on to the mandrel 3. A guide pin 9 engages in the groove 13. Radial clamping holes 14 are provided for securing one end of the strip to the groove 13 and a lever 8 for the other end.
