Abstract

1449650 Apparatus for making brick wall units H LINGL 31 Dec 1973 60182/73 Heading E1S Brick-and-mortar wall sections are made by assembling a row of bricks 20 on a conveyor 2, mortaring their top surfaces from a mortar applicator 5, transferring each brick as it reaches the end of the conveyor to a faster conveyor 3 by means of a device 6 which turns each brick through 90‹ so that its mortared top surface 21 becomes its leading surface, passing the bricks on to a slower convevor 4 so that they are pushed together with mortar joints between them, and mortaring their new top surfaces 22 from a mortar applicator 8. The mortared course of bricks is passed on to a stand-by conveyor 23 from where it is taken by a grab 24 and placed on top of a like course to form a prefabricated wall panel. The device 6 is of cruciform shape, and its arms may comprise grippers for picking up the bricks. Excess mortar from the joints is wiped off by a device 7.
