Abstract

1449363 Developer composition XEROX CORP 15 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 11619/74 Heading G2H An electrostatographic developer comprises toner particles including a crystalline polymer having a melting point in the range 50-150‹C., an activation energy for viscous flow of less than 35 K.cal./mole, a bulk resistivity greater than 10<SP>12</SP> ohm.cm., and a molecular weight in the range 5,000-200,000. In the example, a toner consisting of a finely powdered dispersion of carbon black in a crystalline poly (hexamethylene sebacate) is mixed with steel carrier beads coated with a styrene/methyl methacrylate/triethoxysilane terpolymer. Many other crystalline polymers are listed, including examples of addition and condensation polymers, and cellulose derivatives. Many other carrier materials are also listed. The toner is highly resistant to offset when heat fixed with a roller.
