Abstract

1449141 Aircraft arresting gear V R KERRY J W PAGE J A PASK and E REID 13 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42602/72 Heading B7G An aircraft arresting gear cable (not shown) is supported above a runway by a plurality of arched leaf springs 10 spaced across the runway and each housed in a housing 12 flush with the runway surface, the cable being secured to each spring at the peak of its arch by frangible connections. To enable the springs to be retracted flush with the runway each is connected to a cable 20, each cable being connected by a turnbuckle 23 to a rod 22 that extends across and below the runway for movement by an actuator. Fluid pressure apparatus for controlling the actuator and providing warning signals is described.
