1449047 Road-traffic signalling NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 22 Nov 1974 [27 Nov 1973] 54881/73 Heading G4Q When a transmitting vehicle passing along a route 11 is detected and continues on to pass a receiver 13, 25, logic means checks the output of the receiver, when the object has been detected by means 12, 16, to determine whether signals are being received from the transmitter on the vehicle and/or whether such signals are in a predetermined form, The vehicle carries a transponder powered by radiation from a loop 14 and (whilst in the vicinity of loops 12, 14) repeatedly emits a signal of binary code unique to that vehicle as in Specification 1,187,130 (Divisions H3-H5) and any correct code triggers a monostable 17 to its unstable state to apply a positive pulse to a latch circuit 18 which has a specified truth table. When the vehicle passes over loop 13 a monostable 26 passes a positive pulse to AND gate 24 and a delay circuit 22. A second latch circuit 27 has the same truth table as latch circuit 18; the circuit arrangement is such that a vehicle without a transponder, or with a faulty transponder, causes a generator 28 to be triggered. Circuit 27 is reset by an input (B) effected by an operator after hearing a tone.
