Abstract
1449001 Vibratory screening apparatus; dewatering apparatus POWERSCREEN INTERNATIONAL Ltd 12 Aug 1974 [17 Aug 1973] 39146/73 Headings BID and B2H [Also in Division B8] A mobile apparatus for separating discrete material into coarse and fine fractions comprises an upwardly inclined conveyor 10 having an endless conveyor belt 15; a screen box 23 supported at the discharge end of the conveyor and adjustably mounted in a downwardly angled manner relative to the discharge end, the screen box having a bottom formed by a grid deck 28 for screening material fed into the box, whereby fine and coarse fractions of the material respectively pass through the grid deck and across the top of the grid deck; water discharge means 32 located above the grid deck to wash the coarse and fine fractions as they pass respectively down and through the grid deck; hoppers 31A, 31B located respectively at the lower end of the grid deck and under the grid deck to receive respectively the waterentrained coarse and fine fractions and to convey same to a dewaterer 33 located under the hoppers and comprising a tank 34 partitioned at 37 into two compartments one for each fraction of the material and each having an inlet and an outlet; a rotatable wheel 38 mounted for movement into each compartment in the direction towards the respective inlet, each wheel having a plurality of buckets 41 mounted on its periphery and extending outwardly therefrom, and each bucket, during rotation of the wheel, collecting material deposited under gravity on the bottom of the respective compartment; a downwardly extending chute 42 provided for each wheel with its top end located below the top of the path travelled by the buckets, the chute extending outwardly from the wheel and being adapted to receive material fed onto it under gravity from each bucket as the latter passes the top of its path; and prime mover means 39 to drive the belt 15 and rotate the wheels 38. A feeding hopper 16 having a screening grid over its inlet is provided at the lower end of the conveyor 10. The latter includes a framework 11 supported by length-adjustable legs 18 carrying wheels 19. The tank 34 is mounted on a bogey 35 having wheels 36 and secured to the framework by ties 36'. A hitch 17 extends from the framework for towing purposes. The screen box 23 is supported via a shaft (30), Fig. 1 (not shown) and springs or resilient blocks (not shown) on a frame 24 hingedly mounted at the top of the framework 11 and supported therefrom by length-adjustable ties 25. The grid deck 28 may consist of an apertured plate, a wire mesh or parallel wires. Vibratory motion is imparted to the screen box by a motor 29 mounted on the shaft (30) at one side of the box. Each bucket 41 is of mesh material to allow water to drain through. An articulated conveyor 43 may be mounted on each side of the tank 34 to convey screen-washed and dewatered material passing down the respective chute 42 to a lorry or to a stockpile.
