Abstract

1448310 Asbestos cement material VYZKUMNY USTAV STAVEBNICH HMOT 24 July 1974 32775/74 Heading C1H [Also in Divisions C3 and D2] An asbestos cement material, which is fire resistant on hardening with water, comprises up to 55 wt. per cent short fibre asbestos class 6 and/ or 7 respectively in accordance with the Czechoslovak Standard 72 1760, with a minimum of 40% retained on a 1À35 mm. mesh sieve; from 5 to 30 wt. per cent of a particulate siliceous admixture composed of 20-80 wt. per cent expanded perlite (grain size up to 0À5 mm.) and 80-20 wt. per cent of diatomaceous earth or spongilite (approx. 5% retained on a 2 mm. sieve); from 20 to 70 wt. per cent Portland cement and at least 3 wt. per cent of inorganic fibres having an average length greater than 10 mm. and which are resistant to corrosion in an alkali environment and maintain their fibrous structure in the finished product. The inorganic fibre may be mineral fibre (e.g. mineral wool or asbestos fibre class 3 according to Czechoslovak Standard CSN 72 1760 with a minimum of 50% retained on a 4À8 mm. mesh sieve) or glass fibre. Sulphate pulp, or sulphite pulp or shredded waste paper may be included in the composition.
