Abstract

1448184 Positive clutches HCF PORSCHE AG 21 Jan 1975 [28 March 1974] 2618/75 Heading F2C In a split ring synchronizer for a positive clutch in a gear change mechanism the end 15 and 16 of the split ring 9 are axially displaced relative to one another (by an amount s) and the split ring is prestressed radially. The radial prestress is due to the fitting of the ring 9 in a recess 13 in a clutch body 8 of a gear 2 to be clutched to a shaft 1 by teeth 6 of a gear shift sleeve 5 engaging teeth 7 of the body 8. The axial displacement s may be less than the displacement in the ring 9 before assembly so that the ends 15 and 16 resiliently bias gear 2 and sleeve carrier 3 apart, the gear 2 being resiliently held against a washer 17 to prevent rattle.
