1448153 Credit cards and the like MULLARD Ltd 15 March 1974 11595/74 Heading B6A [Also in Division G4] In a security system, a person or object or a picture thereof is scanned by a T.V. camera or solid state sensor array 11 and the binary coded information obtained from the scan by an encoder 12 is used to control a printer, embosser, engraver or perforator 13 which produces a visually recognizable picture 14A in the form of a pattern of constant size dots, on a security card 14, and to produce a reference sample which may be recorded on the card at 14B or stored at 17. The recorded sample may be encoded. For verification, a photo diode 21 detects a portion of the dots in the picture and a test sample is produced from the resultant binary coded information, the test sample being compared at 23 with the reference sample either taken from the store 17 or read from the card.
