1448061 Knitting machines UNIROYAL INC 4 Jan 1974 [5 Jan 1973] 00513/74 Headings D1C and D1K A circular machine includes two sets of warp yarn supplies, and two sets of weft yarn supplies each movable along a closed path so that wefts are inserted alternately by weft inserting members in a shed formed by the warp yarns. The machine comprises a stationary cylinder 16 and dial 15. The cam cylinder 17 is mounted on a ring 25 by supports 21 and driven from shaft 1 via gears 6 and a chain 4. The dial cam disc 12 is supported from a flange 11 similarly driven. Sets of upper and lower weft bobbins 30, 31 are mounted on rings 7, 8 also rotated by the shaft 1. The weft yarns are fed through insertion tubes 32, 33 so that they are presented alternately in the knitting zone. A first set of warps are stored in members 40' supported by holders 44, 44' bearing rotatable vanes 51 which allow the tubes to pass. A second set of warps are supplied from bobbins 42' through holes 46 in the ring support 18. The machine operates as follows: As the rings 7, 8 rotate weft yarn is laid in the knitting zone, and knitted by the needles. Warp 41 from holder 40 is supplied between the wefts. As the tubes 32, 33 rotate they force warp yarns 43 downwards and upwards respectively. The wefts are thus placed alternately in the sheds formed between warp 40 and the upwardly and downwardly deflected warps 43.
