Abstract

1447317 Work benches, assembly tools POST OFFICE 7 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 06429/74 Heading B4X [Also in Division G2] A tool for use in joining two sets of optical fibres end-to-end is constructed as illustrated in Fig. 1, the members 3 being adapted to engage the side edges of a plate (4), see Figs. 2 to 4 (not shown) bearing grooves (8) in which the fibres (6, 10) lie. To join the fibres, one set is held in position in the grooves, while the other set, supported on the surface 1, is advanced to contact the first set by sliding the tool over the plate (4).
