Abstract

1446339 Credit cards &c. LAMINEX Inc 1 Aug 1973 36655/73 Heading B6A [Also in Division B5] An envelope assembly which may be sealed to form an identification card comprises a transparent envelope blank including two covers 41, 42, and an opaque core 43, of a size no greater than said covers, located therebetween one entire surface of said core being bonded to one of said covers 41 to form a laminate and part of the other surface of said core being bonded to the other of said covers 42 thereby leaving an openable portion in which identification matter can be inserted before the envelope is sealed. The covers each comprise an outer layer of polyester and an inner layer of heat-softenable polyethylene or copolymers of ethylene and acrylic acid or vinyl acetate. The core comprises a paper or vinyl base coated on both sides with the heat softenable material. The coated core is printed with general identification data and bonded to the cover 41 and along a strip 50 to the cover 42. An insert 47 carrying personal identification data, e.g. a photograph can then be inserted before the remainder of the cover 42 is sealed. A separate photograph 46 may be inserted so as to be visible through an opening in the opaque core 43.
