Abstract

1446184 Oil filter S G PONTON and H STROM 5 Sept 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 41728/73 Heading BID Hydraulic or transmission oil in a mobile machine 7 is filtered by draining it into a trough 1, and conveying it to a filter 4 which is held in a filter funnel 2 having high walls to allow the necessary pressure or, as in Fig. 2 (not shown), in a pressure vessel. In Fig. 1 the oil is poured by hand into vessel 2 and 7. In Fig. 2, the oil is pumped round. The filter may be paper weighing 30-150 grams/metre<SP>2</SP> and having a Gurley density below 1.0 s/100 ml; it may be folded and embossed, or coated with lines of plastic to separate the folds.
