Abstract

1446094 Magnetic card systems RUSCO INDUSTRIES INC 10 Dec 1973 [4 Jan 19731 57189/73 Heading E2A At least one spot magnetized card 16, 20 is releasably supported so that a plurality of electromagnet sensors each having a coil 44 wound on a core detent such spots, a switch 22 being actuated by positioning of the cord for a voltage to be momentarily supplied across the coils and respective series resistors 46 the outputs therefrom passing to a gate network 50 so that a pulse is produced for operating access apparatus. Two cards 16, 20 are inserted relative to the sensors such that the magnetized spots of the cards do not coincide with each other; upon operation of the switch 22, a circuit 30 for removing transient spurim signals, e.g. a flip-flop, causes a pulser 32 e.g. a one short trigger circuit to operate an electronic switch 48 and provide a short duration input to a logic circuit 34 e.g. a flip-flop, which beforehand provides a logic "1" output. If and only if the spots are magnetised in the correct direction, and the spots coincide with the sensors, the gate network 50 provides a logic "1" output to the circuit 34 which causes the output thereof to be a logic "0" signal to actuate a pulser 52 similar to the pulser 32; an AC switch 60 is actuated to provide power to operate a solenoid 62 of the access apparatus. Alternatively power could be supplied to retain the access apparatus in the locked condition and unlocking occurring when the power is removed by the A.C. switch. Differently coded cards may be used to actuate the access apparatus at different times, a switch 80 switching out either or both of two sensors so that the cards which are "deficient" in magnetised spots corresponding to one of these sensors can be selectively used for such actuation. Similarly a card inserted in an "entrance" detecting apparatus can be recorded by operation of two electromagnets 100, 102 for demagnetising a spot and/or magnetising a non-magnetised spot, the electromagnets being coupled to a voltage doubler, Fig. 3 not shown, connected to the power source. The recorded card can then be used in "exit" detecting apparatus (e.g. at a parking lot) which then records the card for subsequent "entrance" detection.
