Abstract

1446078 Thermo-aluminic processes BUCK KG 14 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 58152/73 Heading B3V A housing for a thermit demolition charge has an ignition transmission window 14 in its wall 10 and means 12, 13 for connecting the housing to a second housing also having an ignition transmission window 15 in its wall 11. Thus, only one fuse is required, the hot melt in the cube-shaped housing of one device, after melting foils 16, 17, ignites the charge in the housing of the adjacent device. Two opposite sides 10 of each housing may each be formed with a tongue 12 and the other two sides with a groove 13 to enable ready interconnection of the housings. Alignment is achieved when a projection 19 enters a recess 18. Alternatively, Fig. 2 (not shown), each of the four sides of a housing may be formed with a groove (22 or 23) for use with a separate connector (30) also serving as an ignition transmitter. An electric or manual friction igniter is attached to one of the charges. Covers protect exposed windows on sides not carrying an igniter. Transmission windows may also be formed in the ends of the housings to enable vertical stacking. Interconnectors may extend between the opposed windows of a housing so as to cross each other and facilitate ignition.
