Abstract

1445532 Aerials TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 9 Sept 1974 [24 Oct 1973] 39343/74 Heading H4A A motor vehicle has an engine, front and rear window glasses, an A.M. receiving means and an F.M. receiving means, respective aerials for said receiving means, aerial conductors for the F.M. receiving means being embedded in, or printed on, the window glass which is most remote from the engine, the A.M. aerial being embedded in or printed on the other window glass or is formed as a pole antenna. As described, a front-engined motorcar has a rear window glass 4, Fig. 2, in which a centrallydisposed vertical FM aerial 8 is embedded, its length being about a quarter-wavelength (say 50 cm.) at an operating frequency in the FM waveband. The aerial 8 is connected through a line 9 to an F.M. socket 11 of a car radio 10. Printed defrosting conductors 6 are provided on the window on each side of the aerial 8, and are connectable via terminals 7 to the car battery. The A.M. aerial 12 is T-shaped, and is provided in the front window glass 3 of the motorcar. It is connected through a lead 9<SP>1</SP> to an A.M. socket 11<SP>1</SP> of the car radio 10. In another embodiment, the F.M. aerial and the defrosting conductors are disposed horizontally in the rear window glass (Fig. 3, not shown). Instead of a window-mounted aerial, a rod-type aerial may be used for A.M. reception.
