1444705 3-lodo-4-hydroxy-5-nitro-benzonitrile CHINOIN GYOGYSZER ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT 23 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 55550/74 Heading C2C The title compound is prepared by nitrating 3-iodo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile with nitric acid. The 3-iodo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile may be prepared by dehydration of the oxime of 3-iodo- 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde in aqueous formic acid and the aldehyde is obtained by treating 4- hydroxy benzaldehyde with iodine monochloride in a mixture of C 1-6 aliphatic carboxylic acid and a halogenated hydrocarbon.
