Abstract

1444345 Transferring liquid cargoes R H DAVIES 3 Aug 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 36695/72 Heading B8E [Also in Division B7] In a mooring and loading buoy assembly for passing fluids to tanker ships through the buoy 1 from an underwater pipeline, a central flow channel 7 extends through the buoy and has located around it at least one outer, vertical coaxial, annular flow channel such as 16. The central flow channel has a lower end at 8, an upper end at 9 to which a hose can be connected and a swivel 10 whereby the upper end of the channel can swivel relative to the lower end, this swivel being outside (in the axial direction) each outer flow channel such as 16. The or each outer flow channel such as 16 and 23 have a lower end and an upper end portion with laterally disposed outlet 20 or 28 rotatable by swivel bearings A, B or C, D respectively. Each outlet of each flow channel is spaced (in the axial direction) from that of any further flow channel which is radially outside that flow channel. The control flow channel 7 is rigid along its length at least to the extent it extends within the outer flow channel or channels and all the flow channels are sealed from one another. The swivel bearing of each outer flow channel is located outside of and spaced (in the axial direction) from any further flow channels outside the flow channel which it serves and comprises sealing elements and distinct bearing elements.
