1444150 1,8 - Naphthyridine derivatives CHINION GYOGYSZER ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT 25 Sept 1975 [17 Jan 1975] 39388/75 Addition to 1432967 Heading C2C Novel 1,8-naphthyridine derivatives of the formula or a tautomer or acid addition salt thereof, wherein R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, aryl, substituted alkyl or aryl, aralkyl alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy, amino, acylamino alkylamino, dialkylamino, a nitrogen containing monocyclic heterocyclic group which is attached to the diazanaphthalene group through its nitrogen atom, acyl, alkoxy-carbonylalkyl alkoxycarbonyl or a derivative of a carboxylic acid; R 3 is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino, acylamino or halogen; R 4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, halogen, nitro, alkoxy, hydroxy, amino, acylamino or a carboxylic acid derivative provided that (a) when R 1 is alkoxycarbonyl, then R 2 is not hydrogen or alkyl, and (b) when R 1 , R 2 and R 4 are not all hydrogen when R 3 is alkyl, are prepared by isomerizing a compound of the formula The isomerization reaction is preferably performed under thermal conditions at a temperature of from 150‹ to 400‹ C. in the presence of an inert solvent, e.g. paraffin oil or a mineral oil fraction. The present Specification specifically claims several compounds which were not present in the parent Specification 1,432,967.
