Abstract

1443977 Screening machine A ZIMMER MANN [trading as AZO-MASCHINENFABRIK ADOLF ZIMMERMANN] 12 Nov 1973 [1 Aug 1973] 52334/73 Heading B2H A screening machine 5 in a pneumatic conveying installation comprises a cylindrical screen 11 and a rotor 12 which rotates in the interior of the screen and throws the material to be screened outwardly, the rotor having a free axial internal space into which a feed conduit 4 for the material to be screened extends from one end of the machine. As shown in Fig. 1, material 40 be screened is pneumatically conveyed, by suction produced by a fan 3, from a storage bin 1 through a duct 2 and the feed conduit 4 into the screening machine 5. A coarse fraction of the material passes from the interior of the screen into a discharge extension 6 while a fine fraction passes with the conveying air through the screen into a hopper 7 and thence via a conduit 8 into a weighing container 9 which acts as a separator, the air being removed via the fan 3 and tlhe fine fraction of material 'being discharged when required, or when a desired quantity has been collected, by means of a gate 10. As shown in Fig. 2, the rotor 12 comprises two or more blades 13 which are secured to a helical spring 17 and to a disc 14 mounted on the shaft 16 of a driving motor 15. The blades may be slightly twisted about the rotor axis so as to transport the coarse fraction of material towards the discharge extension 6. A transparent container 20 may be connected to the extension 6. Instead of being conveyed by suction the material may be fed into the conduit 4 and may be conveyed to the screening machine by compressed air.
