1443683 Actuating slides HURTH VERWALTUNGS GmbH 19 Aug 1974 [14 Sept 1973] 36331/74 Headings B3B and B3K [Also in Division F2] A machine tool incorporates a mechanism for effecting traversing movement of, and locating, a movable part thereof, e.g. a tool slide of a keyway milling machine, which mechanism comprises a plurality of overlapping wedges 12, 13 disposed to act between the said movable part 31 and a further fixed part 3a to produce movement of the movable part in a direction transverse to the movement of the wedges, and means for limiting the movement of the wedges. Each wedge is rigidly connected by way of a spindle 8, 9 to a piston 34, 35 movable in cylinders 32, 33 formed in a housing end cover 10 . An adjustable stop 55, lockable in position by a screw and clamp arrangement 60-65, limits the movement of both of the spindles 8, 9. By co-ordinating the selection of an hydraulic or pneumatic supply to the cylinders 32, 33, the wedges can be positioned to produce a minimum, and a mid-position for the movable part 31. Rolling members 22, 27, in cages, may be provided between the friction surfaces. A contact switch arrangement is provided by electrically insulating covers 36, 37 on the cylinders which are penetrated by end portions of the spindles 8, 9 and engaged by contact brushes 49, 50.
