Abstract

1442711 Escape slides RFD-GQ Ltd 17 Dec 1974 [3 Jan 1974] 00258/74 Heading B7J An escape slide for an aircraft has electrically conducting fibres 3 sewn or woven into the fabric 1 of the slide so that static electrical charge generated by an evacuee sliding down the slide is conducted to earth. The fibres extend longitudinally of the slide and are sewn into a central slideway disposed between two inflatable tubes 2 the slideway and fibres 3 therein being extended beyond the tubes 2 to an apron 4 for ground contact. The fibres 3 are preferably epitropic fibres made by impregnating the surface of synthetic fibres with carbon particles after spinning of the synthetic fibres.
